Japan Donates Solar Funds To Nigeria

Japan has donated N2 billion (USD7.8 million) to Nigeria for solar power systems.

The agreement, between Japan’s International Cooperation Agency, JICA, and Nigeria’s Federal Ministry of Power, was signed by Ryuichi Shoji, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Nigeria, and Darius Ishaku, Minister of State for Power in Abuja.

Under the project, solar power equipment and materials will be procured from Japan. Japan will also provide solar electricity generation systems for the Umaru Musa Yar’Adua University, Katsina.
